I received some good constructive comments on my previous version so I had another go to remove the halos and ghosting and render a more natural looking sky. I also increased the detail in the shadow areas. Thanks to mlibrescu for your advice. I think this looks better now, hope you agree :-)

Still some problems here. The haloing is still evident, though better. The upper part of the sky still looks rough instead of smooth, and the image could be a little sharper.
