Winter Infra Red of The Stanley Hotel
- Canon EOS REBEL T3i
- EF70-200mm f/4L IS USM
- Shooting Style Hand Held
- Shoots Number Multiple Exposure
- Exposures Number -2, 0, +2
- Editing Software Lightroom / Photomatix Pro / Topaz Studio
- File Format RAW
- Notes Usually zoom lenses don't always work well with Infra red sensors, but this came out good. As IR does not focus at same plane as visible light.
Sunny day, so I brought out my digital infra red camera. I think the hotel is at least a half mile from where I shot the picture. At 200mm on an APS-C sensor the magnification is equal to a 320mm lens, which means just over 6X magnification. The image is sharp but my denoise program also took out the siding details in shadow areas. Oh well, enjoy...
Very effective image
After seeing this shot, I bought an IR filter to play with. I couldn't get one in ZA so I'll only have it in a couple of weeks. I think I'll use it on my Canon 70D. I suppose exposures will be very long.
@pedrevan Not sure, last time I used a filter was with Tri-X b/w film, hard to see through a 25A filter. Life Pixel does conversions that are affordable, take a look at their website. lifepixel.com It also helps to have a Denoise program like Topaz.
