Artificial arm Berounka river creates an island in the vicinity of the historic city center, called Beroun Čertovka. The river used to drive from the medieval center of the largest mills in the city - Křížův, Zajíčkův and Pansky, which were gradually rebuilt in its present form. All these mills are now nefunční and are used for other commercial purposes.
