Lake Huron, the middle Great Lake, is freezing up quite nicely, but ships and commercial fishing boats can still get through. This fishing boat, covered with ice, is returning from a day of fishing (mostly yellow perch) and is passing a laker that is loading salt from North America's largest salt mine (Goderich, Ontario, Canada). The side of this laker is covered with ice and salt that has settled on it. There is a bit of mistiness in the photo caused by a very fine snow that was falling at the time.
