Fallingwater, one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most widely acclaimed works, was designed for the family of Pittsburgh department store owner Edgar J. Kaufmann in 1935. Built over a waterfall, Fallingwater exemplifies Wright’s concept of organic architecture: the harmonious union of art and nature. Built between 1936 and 1939, Fallingwater instantly became famous, and today it is a National Historic Landmark. Note: Mr. Wright would not have allowed me to remove the three trees in front of the house from the image.
