OK, so my youngest daughter who is 10 wanted to give Tone Mapping a shot. I told her I would post whatever she came up with. Now in full disclosure I did show her the basics of how Photomatix works and how the sliders adjusted certain elements of the picture.
I gave her suggestions as to what to look for as far as "too dark" or "too light" in the snow. For the most part this is 99% her.
Be gentle but be honest. Not that you would but no automatic 10's just because it was processed by my sweet, innocent daughter.... LOL
