In Photomatix you can select a certain part of an image such as this bird which had moved a little. Once you outline the part that you want to deghost then you choose one of the images which has the best look. Thus you are only choosing ONE of the 3 ima

I think you will find Phil that when you do 'selective De-ghosting' it still uses all the layers it adjusts the pixels within the area selected to line up more correctly to the layer you selected. I will stand corrected but think I am right on this....Per

Did that technique change Photomatix affect on the lighting of the bird's head, gullet and neck? It almost appears that the bird was added to the image; but that doesn't detract, I think it makes it more interesting.

The bird was not added to the picture. I don't think it has an affect on the lighting but maybe makes is more difficult to control tone, whites and blacks.

Oh, I'm sure the bird wasn't added, Phil... it just looked like the head and neck were slightly separated from the background, while the lower body and feet were FIRMLY anchored in the foreground... and I'm probably the only one who would describe it that

If the bird was added its the best compositing I have ever seen, and would have deserved a ten for the skill involved.
